DAY 5 IGUAZÚ FALLS

Breakfast. Starting at 7:30 am, passengers are picked up at their different hotels in Puerto Iguazú or Foz do Iguazu, and taken by bus or van to Iguazú National Park, in Argentina.

The tour to Iguazú Falls and Devil’s Throat begins some 400 meters (1,312 ft.) away from the access door to the National Park, where the Central Station is located; from there, the train heads towards the Waterfalls Station and to Devil Throat Station. Visitors can also get there on foot, by trekking for about 20 minutes. From Devil’s Throat Station, they can walk 2 kilometers (1.2 miles) along wooden pathways leading to the Devil’s Throat. At the Waterfalls Station, the tour on foot begins heading towards the Circuito Superior (Upper Circuit) along wooden pathways for about an hour -with no specific difficulty-; there, the falls can be watched from above. In Circuito Inferior (Lower Circuit), though a little more difficult due to its numerous stairs, visitors can watch the water falls from below. This route continues along deep slope stairways leading to the river coast, where the boats that cross to San Martín Island are boarded. Boat tickets are not included but they can be bought on site.

Once the tour ends, passengers are taken back to their hotels. Entrance to the National Park must be paid in local corrency.

Departing from the Visitors Center of the Argentine National Park, we shall enter the jungle by the Yacaratiá trail in trucks specially designed for this environment. Bilingual guides (Spanish and English) will introduce the place natural and cultural resources.

This 5 kms long stretch ends at Puerto Macuco. At its dock, visitors shall board on the boats that shall be sailing in the Lower Iguazu River for as long as 6 kms, heading towards the waterfalls area, enjoying plentiful rapids.
Upon reaching the Tres Mosqueteros Fall, visitors shall be able to see the falls of both the Argentine and Brazilian sides crowned by the view of the Garganta del Diablo (Devil Throat). Afterwards, the most exciting point comes when facing the incomparable San Martín waterfall, the second in dimension and the hugest any boat may face.

At the end of the trip, we shall descend from the boat on the dock located in front of the San Martín Island, where visitors may continue enjoying the landscape joining the runways system of the Lower Circuit.

This excursion can also be made in the opposite direction: from the San Martín dock to the Visitors’ Center.

The boat departs every half-hour from the pier located across the San Martin Island, on the Argentinean side of the Park. Return to the Hotel. Accommodation.
